Capitol Quarter, Vice-President

Capitol Quarter is a mixed income housing development built in 2009 in Navy Yard, SE DC. As part of Phase 1, the Board is responsible for 160 residences.

After living in DC for five years, I wanted to be more involved so I ran and won Vice-President of the Board. As a mixed income development, the Board set our initiatives for the 2021 year: provide better communications, creating a better sense of community, provide better linkage between outgoing and incoming board members, and revise the ARB rules and regulations for easier personalization one’s home.

Since November 2020, we are moving in the right direction.

  • I created a community survey to provide productive insight on how they want their community to continue.

  • I’m creating quarterly newsletters to keep everyone informed of our efforts in more detailed manner.

  • I encouraged and succeeded in creating a new Microsoft account help with the transfer of knowledge from on Board to the Next. I’ve created a new Sharepoint site to re-organize and maintain documents.

  • We’ve been working with local commissioners and councilman in creating a safer community through working with the DDOT.

Alexandria Square, President

Alexandria Square is a condominium development comprising of 14 buildings built in the 1940’s located “where main street still exists” in Del Ray, a community in Alexandria, Virginia.

I ran and won as President of the Condominium Board. My main objects were to create better communications with the residences, waterproof our failing basements, hire a new management company, and beautify our landscape.

In my role, I succeeded on all counts.

  • I created RFP and reviewed all bids for a $72,000 initiative to waterproof all 13 basements.

  • I’m created quarterly newsletters to keep everyone informed of our efforts in more detailed manner.

  • I created the RFP and reviewed for new a new management company.

  • I worked with our landscape company to re-work existing plants, create new planting beds, add additional trees, and manage our existing plantings for a $10,000 budget.

  • Our Board managed ongoing restorations of our defining two-story porches.
